We collected 256 Prayer Bears (or other critters) for the children at Cook Children’s Hospital.
Your donations of soft, cuddly bears were delivered, along with our love and prayers,
to the hospital this past week in time for Valentine’s Day! Thank you!

Prelude – "You Are My King” (“Amazing Love") with "Love Divine All Loves Excelling"
Arr. by Carol Tornquist, Performed by Echo Wilson

Welcome & Opening Prayer – Rev. Joe Chamness

*Opening Hymn:

“My Hope Is Built” - 368 – UMH

1. My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
    I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
   On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand; all other ground is sinking sand.
2. When darkness veils his lovely face, I rest on his unchanging grace.
     In every high and stormy gale, my anchor holds within the veil.
    On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand; all other ground is sinking sand.
3. His oath, his covenant, his blood support me in the whelming flood.
    When all around my soul gives way, he then is all my hope and stay.
    On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand; all other ground is sinking sand.
4. When he shall come with trumpet sound, O may I then in him be found!
    Dressed in his righteousness alone, faultless to stand before the throne!
    On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand; all other ground is sinking sand.

*Affirmation of Faith #887 – “Affirmation from Romans 8:35,37-39”  – Valerie Stowe

One: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation or distress, or persecution or famine,
or nakedness or peril or sword?

All: No! In all things we are more than conquerors through the One who loved us.
We are sure that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present,
nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Thanks be to God! Amen.

Hymn of Preparation: “His Eye Is on the Sparrow” - 2146 – TFWS

1. Why should I feel discouraged?  Why should the shadows come?
    Why should my heart be lonely and long for heaven and home, when Jesus is my portion?
    My constant friend is he:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know he watches me; his eye is on the sparrow, and I know he watches me.
I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free, for his eye is on the sparrow, and I know he watches me.

2. “Let not your heart be troubled,” his tender word I hear, and resting on his goodness,
     I lose my doubts and fears; though by the path he leadeth but one step I may see:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know he watches me; his eye is on the sparrow, and I know he watches me.
I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free, for his eye is on the sparrow, and I know he watches me.

3. Whenever I am tempted; whenever clouds arise, when song gives place to sighing,
     when hope within me dies, I draw the closer to him, from care he sets me free:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know he watches me; his eye is on the sparrow, and I know he watches me.
I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free, for his eye is on the sparrow, and I know he watches me.

Scripture & Sermon – Rev. Joe Chamness (Matthew 5:20-37, “Exceedingly Righteous”)

Closing Hymn:  “God Will Take Care of You” – 130 – UMH

1. Be not dismayed whate’er betide, God will take care of you;
beneath his wings of love abide, God will take care of you.
God will take care of you, through every day, o’er all the way;
he will take care of you, God will take care of you.
2. Through days of toil when heart doth fail, God will take care of you;
    when dangers fierce your path assail, God will take care of you.
    God will take care of you, through every day, o’er all the way;
    he will take care of you, God will take care of you.
3. All you may need he will provide, God will take care of you;
    nothing you ask will be denied, God will take care of you.
   God will take care of you, through every day, o’er all the way;
   he will take care of you, God will take care of you.
4. No matter what may be the test, God will take care of you;
    lean, weary one, upon his breast, God will take care of you.
    God will take care of you, through every day, o’er all the way;
    he will take care of you, God will take care of you.

Closing Remarks & Benediction – Rev. Joe Chamness

Benediction Response:

“Cares Chorus” – 2215 - TFWS

1.  I cast all my cares upon you, I lay all of my burdens down at your feet,
and anytime that I don’t know what to do, I will cast all my cares upon you.
