Rocky Buchanan, Director of Music Ministries: Sanctuary Choir and Bell Choir
I am Rocky Buchanan, the current Minister of Music at Edge Park United Methodist Church.  I was born and raised in Stroud, Oklahoma where I attended First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).  While completing my degree, I started my church music ministry at First United Methodist Church in Stroud.  I received my BA in Music Education from East Central University, and started my teaching and church journey in Oklahoma and Texas.  I am starting my 29th year of teaching choral music; 15th year at South Hills High School in FWISD.
My favorite quote is "Every finish line is the start of a new race."  This quote falls right in line with my favorite scripture, 2Timothy 4:7, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."  I have lived by this statement with every performance as a director and choir member to always continue to grow and learn in my musical abilities.  I've had many opportunities to sing in professional choirs in the DFW area; as well as teaching and providing performance opportunities for my students.
As a director my mission statement is to enrich the service through all types of music of praise.  This is the means by which the soul and spirit reach out to God in song.  EPUMC Music Ministry offers opportunities in the Sanctuary Choir, Bell Choir, and Vocal and Instrumental Soloists.  Choir is a family with a safe-environment for all to experience God through your spiritual and musical journey.  Please let me know if I can help.
God Bless,
Rocky Buchanan
